PURPOSE:To simplify the circuit constitution and at the same time to improve the reproducibility of a reproduction video signal by obtaining a dropout detection signal corresponding to a dropout section from the reproduction video signal and muting the working of a recording part where recording dubbing is performed by the drop-out detection signal. CONSTITUTION:A reproduction luminance signal S22 or a reproduction multiplexing color difference signal S21 reproduced from the 1st tape 23 has a dropout with a reproduction VTR32 of a dubbing device 31. In such a case, the dropout detection signals S25 and S26 corresponding to the dropout section and showing the starting and ending time points of the dropout are obtained from dropout detecting circuits 47 and 48 respectively and applied to record amplifying circuits 45 and 42 of a record VTR33 as muting signals. As a result, a level 0 is recorded on a dubbing tape 34 during the section of dropout. Then this recording of the drop-out section is compensated by a dropout compensating circuit provided to a component signal reproducing circuit 55 when the tape 34 is reproduced by a reproduction VTR device 51.
