PURPOSE:To produce a defectless large-sized structural material with a small sized melting and forging installation by forming respective parts by forging in the form of dividing the large sized structural member to plural members then joining the members by welding and assembling the members to the large sized structural member then working plastically the joined parts. CONSTITUTION:Members 1a, 1b are melted and forged in the form of dividing, for example, a shaft material which is a large sized structural member, to shaft members 1a, 1b. The members 1a, 1b are then bonded in a welding joint part 10 to make the sectional size D3 of the part 10 larger than the sectional size of the members 1a, 1b. The part 10 of the members 1a, 1b is positioned between an upper anvil 12 and a lower anvil 13 of a forging press and the part 10 is pressed by the anvils 12, 13 as shown by an arrows 14, 14, by which the members are plastically worked. Then the blowholes, etc. existing in the part 10 are thoroughly press welded and the integrity thereof is improved. |
