The device according to the invention consists essentially of a box for receiving the separately produced foam, with a rotating roller, partially immersed therein, for conveying the foam, and with a limiting plate which, together with the roller, forms a coating and metering slit for the foam. Conveyed foam flows out of the slit onto the material web. To prevent the foam from adhering to these coating elements, thus resulting in an irregular coating, the movably suspended limiting plate is set in rapid vibration-like movements.
