In a projection system, in particular for a microfilm reader having a light source and a deflecting mirror, it is proposed to use a heat-absorbing glass as substrate (W) for the deflecting mirror, and to provide this glass with a reflective coating (SR) on the side averted from the light source. This produces the advantage that the heat-absorbing filter otherwise required is eliminated, and this leads to savings in material and space. A cost-effective aluminium or silver layer can be used as the reflective coating (SR), since it can be easily protected against chemical corrosion at the point provided in accordance with the invention. <IMAGE>
