The invention relates to a locking device for locking doors and consists of a bolt housing (3) to be connected to the door leaf (1) and of a bolt receptacle (5) to be connected to the door jamb (2). To increase the safety against break-in, the bolt housing (3), together with the bolt (33), and the bolt receptacle (5) are made substantially large in comparison with the state of the art, and in particular they extend over the entire height of a door. Nevertheless, the bolt (33) can be actuated by a conventional locking device with a key, since it is mounted on bearing rollers (300) by means of bearing slots (331). <IMAGE>
