Method and installation for purifying combustion gas from for example domestic heatings, combustion engines or similar heatings, of their nitrogen and sulphur oxide impurities by means of a mass effecting the chemical binding of those impurities; the combustion gas passes through a group of high porosity pellets containing pyrolusite (MnO2) as well as metal oxides used as active mass, and the impurities are deposited on the metal oxides. For the treatment of combustion gas having high temperatures in the order of 500<o>C and more, for example exhaust gas from the high temperature side of generators or from the manifold of a vehicle engine, the pellets contain between 3 and 8 % by weight, preferably between 4 and 6 % by weight of carbon dust and between 5 and 15 % by weight, preferably between 8 and 13.5 % by weight of ferric oxide. In the case of a purification of combustion gas coming out at a low temperature between 120 and 300<o>C, for example the exhaust gas from domestic heatings, the pellets contain between 3 and 8 % by weight, preferably between 4 and 5.5 % by weight of potassium chlorate and/or hydrogen peroxide as oxidation agent. The active mass comprises from 15 to 40 % by weight, preferably from 25 to 35 % by weight of slag, fly ash or fly dust. |
