The invention relates to a multi-layer sound-insulating board containing bitumen and polystyrene. For the sound-absorbing board according to the invention it is characteristic that it contains as boundary layer woven fabric, felt, artificial leather, rubber or shrinkable PVC and, applied successively onto this boundary layer, a layer of synthetic resin bitumen or tar, a layer of copper chips or bronze chips, a layer of, if appropriate plasticiser-containing, compact leather powder composite or a layer of leather powder, bitumen and polystyrene, if appropriate a further layer of copper chips or bronze chips, if appropriate a layer of porous leather powder composite or a layer of leather powder, bitumen and polystyrene, if appropriate a layer of basalt wool dipped in urea formaldehyde resin and finally a second boundary layer of one of the materials given for the first boundary layer. The sound-absorbing board according to the invention has outstanding sound-absorbing properties over a wide frequency range.
