In a method which, in particular, is used for recording two information items which are recorded with the aid of a writing member which can be laterally deflected with respect to the direction of recording, it is provided that the two information items, or recording signals corresponding to these, are separately detected and supplied to a single writing member and that when two information items arrive simultaneously, the recording is influenced, particularly by means of an amplitude modulation of the recording signal which is currently being recorded, which shows that two information items are occurring simultaneously.
