In a purification, in particular desulphurisation of the flue gases of coal power stations by scrubbing liquid, which contains calcium hydroxide and/or calcium carbonate and carboxylic acids as additives, expensive losses of carboxylic acids occur in the necessary discharge of scrubbing water from the circulation process. This is avoided by using additives which are in the vaporisation range between 50 and 85 DEG C and are evaporated from the waste water and are reintroduced into the scrubbing circulation.
