Mechanism as flexible coupling between coaxially arranged drive and output shafts which essentially comprises a double slide, the guide intersection of which is supported at the point of intersection so that it can pivot about the axis of the drive shaft, the sliding members of the double slide being formed as piston-shaped weights and balanced by a counterweight arranged on the crank shaft. The acting direction is reversible, that is the drive shaft and output shaft can exchange functions. The output speed is automatically adjusted according to the load. There are therefore no fixed transmission ratios. The effective duration of the coupling process is equal to the duration of different torques acting on the drive and/or output, the absolute speeds playing no part. The elastic force of the coupling is a function of the piston weights, which vary according to their dimensions, and of the speed differential between drive and output, which varies independently of the dimensions. <IMAGE>
