The invention relates to a protective shield for the dazzle-free observation of the region of highly dazzling light sources, especially for use in welding. The protective shield according to the invention has a reflection system with at least two mirrors which deflect the light rays emitted by the light source several times and at the same time attenuate the intensity of these rays to such an extent that at least the area surrounding the light source, and, if appropriate, the light source itself, is clearly visible to the observer without any dazzling effect.
