PURPOSE:An amino-azo compound is diazotized and allowed to couple with a specific amine to give a disazo dye which dyes polyester fibers purple to blue fast to light, heat and moisture. CONSTITUTION:An amino-azo compound of formula I (A is H, Cl, Br, nitro, methylsulfonyl, ethylsulfonyl; X, Y are cyano, nitro) is diazotized, then allowed to couple with an amine of formula II (B is H, Cl, methyl, methoxy, ethoxy, acetylamino; C is H, Cl, methoxy, ethoxy; R1, R2 are H, 1-4C alkyl, allyl, 3- 6C alkoxyalkyl, cyanoethyl, 2-4C hydroxyalkyl) such as 3-N,N-diethylamino- acetanilide to give the objective disazo dye of formula III.
