This improved automatic driving apparatus cuts the thread using knives. The timing for the thread-cutting can be controlled because the cutting device is driven by an opener driving force. The driving apparatus cuts the thread quickly with each needle. Because the thread-cutting apparatus and the crescent of the sewing machine are independently unified, the width of the needle is controlled by simply moving the crescent.
