发明名称 CORE ALIGNING METHOD DURING FUSION CONNECTION OF OPTICAL FIBER
摘要 PURPOSE:To align the cores of both optical fibers to be connected by arranging a light source which emit lights in both directions between abutting end surfaces of the optical fibers to be connected, entering the projected light into both optical fibers to be connected, and detecting light which leaks to a flank. CONSTITUTION:A semiconductor laser is set so that the directions of projected light beams from both mirror end surfaces of the semiconductor laser 6 coincide with the axes of the optical fibers 2 and 4 to be connected, and then the light beams projected from the mirror end surfaces are in waveguide mode of propagation in a core 8 and in clad mode of propagation in a clad 9. When the beam center axis of the projection light of the semiconductor laser 6 is aligned to the core axis of the optical fiber 2, light incident to the optical fiber is almost in waveguide mode and propagates in the core 8 to minimize detection signals V1 and V2 of clad mode leak light. On the other hand, the projected light beams from both mirror end surfaces of the semiconductor laser 6 are coincident in direction, so the optical fibers 2 and 4 are jogged in an (x) and a (y) direction so that the V1 and V2 are minimum, thus aligning the core axes of the optical fibers 2 and 4 to be connected together.
