发明名称 MEASUREMENT OF CAROTENE IN BLOOD
摘要 PURPOSE:To enable handy, quick and accurate measurement of amount of carotene in blood by performing a colorimetry between a solution having carotene extracted from blood and standard liquids of a K2Cr2O7 aqueous solution using a mixture of C2H5OH and petroleum ether made at a specific ratio. CONSTITUTION:Standard aqueous solutions produced by reducing 50.0-2.5mg/dl of K2Cr2O7 sequentially are taken into colorimetry tubes to make standard color tone tubes. A reagent for extraction produced by adding petroleum ether to ethyl alcohol in a double amount is added to plasma (serum) to be measured and stirred and allowed to stand for 1-2min. Then, the color tone of the upper petroleum ether layer is compared with that of the standard color tone tube with eyes and as one-hundreds of the concentration of K2Cr2O7 in the color tone tube coincided in the color tone corresponds to the amount of carotene, correction is made by the ratio between the amount of the sample plasma and the amount of petroleum ether in the reagent for extraction to determine the amount of carotene in the plasma. This measurement also can be done with a colorimeter by preparation of a standard curve from the standard liquids instead of the colorimetery with eyes. This enables a quick and highly accurate measurement thereby allowing a field measurement of carotene in blood of a caw, hen or the like.
