PURPOSE:To form a uniform thin layer of a developer on the surface of a developer holding member and charge it electrostatically sufficiently by friction by providing a magnetic pole having the same polarity wth the magnetic pole for forming a brush of magnetic particles on a holding member adjacently to the magnetic pole. CONSTITUTION:The 1st fixed magnet 7a which has the 1st magnetic pole forms the magnetic brush near a magnetic blade 6. The 2nd magnet 7b which has the 2nd fixed magnetic pole has the S magnetic pole with the same polarity with the magnetic pole oppositely to the sleeve so that a magnetic field extends into a container 3. Consequently, repulsive magnetic fields are established between the 1st and the 2nd magnetic poles to nap the magnetic brush formed of magnetic particles generated corresponding to the magnetic poles to wide width, thereby improving the ability to collecting nonmagnetic particles into the magnetic brush. Therefore, even when a large amount of the developer is consumed during development, the developer is supplied into the magnetic brush sufficiently, so unevenness of development due to a deficiency of the developer in the brush is prevented. |
