PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst having superior activity at low temperature and superior durability by using oxides of Ti and Mo as active components. CONSTITUTION:Oxides of Ti and Mo are used as active components for a catalyst for converting H2S to SO2. Preferred proportion of the active components to each other is within range of 99:1-50:50 of the atomic ratio of Ti to Mo. Titanium oxide, titanic acid, titanium sulphate, are used as the starting material for Ti component, and molybdenum oxide, molybdic acid or several molybdate, are used as the starting material for the Mo component.
