PURPOSE:To recover the oil content in water by utilizing the property of a liquefied petroleum gas which well absorbs oil and has a lighter sp. gr. than water. CONSTITUTION:When a liquefied petroleum gas is introduced into a pressure vessel, a gas part C and a liquid part D are formed, and the pressure of the vessel becomes the saturated vapor pressure of the LP gas. When a mixture of water and oil is forced into the vessel by a pump, a closing valve 1 is opened, and the mixture falls like a shower from a nozzle 5, passes through the liquid D of the liquefied LP gas, and accumulates at the lower part of the LP gas. While passing through the liquid D of the LP gas, the oil content on the surface of the water droplet is absorbed in the liquid of the LP gas. In addition, the oil content in water accumulated at the lower part floats up to the water surface due to the light sp. gr., and is absorbed in the liquid of the LP gas. When the internal pressure is increased due to the increased inflow of the water, a pressure closing valve is opened, and the water is discharged. When the oil concn. in the liquid of the LP gas is increased, the liquid of the LP gas is returned to another vessel after discharging the water.
