PURPOSE:To provide the titled substance, in high selectivity, by the partial hydrogenation of a monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbon in the presence of water, an alkaline agent, and an Ru-containing catalyst pretreated in a hydrogen- containing atmosphere in gaseous phase, and optionally in the presence of a Zn compound. CONSTITUTION:The titled substance is prepared by the partial hydrogenation of a monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbon in the presence of water, an alkaline agent and an Ru catalyst, and optionally a Zn compound. The Ru catalyst is preferably ruthenium halide supported on a carrier such as zeolite, alumina, etc. and treated at 300-500 deg.C for 30min-5hr in hydrogen gas atmosphere. The selectivity of the objective compound can be improved by adding Zn to the reaction system in the form of oxide or hydroxide. The reaction is carried out at 100-200 deg.C and 10-100kg/cm<2>G. The amount of the catalyst is 0.01-20wt% based on the monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbon. |
