PURPOSE:An agent destroying Bursaphelenchus lignicolus, being applied to the interior of pine tree or the soil, capable of preventing pine trees from withering, containing 2-(4-thiazolyl)benzimidazole or its salt as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:The titled agent containing 0.01-30wt% compound or its salt (preferably water-soluble acid addition salt, for example, hypophosphite, lactate). This composition destroys Bursaphelenchus Lignicolus in pine trees, controls multiplication and growth of it, and can prevent pine trees from withering. When it is used, the composition is injected into underground parts and/or trunk parts upto 3 meters from the ground, or small holes are made, and the composition is injected into them naturally or by pressure. An amount of the composition used in the operation is 1-1,000ml spray based on every 10cm diameter of the tree at chest-height. When it is poured upon the soil, 1-500l is used per pine tree.
