PURPOSE:To effectively use the trunk room of an automobile, facilitate the putting in and out of its spare tire and increase the strength of its tire pan, by providing a rear body structure which makes it possible to couple the tire pan to a cross member and house the spare tire in a vertical position as back as possible. CONSTITUTION:The top opening 6 of a trunk room 5 can be opened and closed by a rear hatch 7. A rear end panel 3 extends up from the rear end of a body floor 2. The upper part 3a of the rear end panel 3 is bent forward so that the part has an edge along the rear of the opening 6 and a space for housing a spare tire 8 in a vertical position is defined under the bent part 3a. A notch 9 is provided in the center of the rear part of the body floor 2. A tire pan 10 is secured on the edge of the rear part of the body floor 2 along the notch 9. The tire pan has a recess 11, in which the lower half of the spare tire 8 is fitted. The rear plate 10a of the tire pan 10 is secured on a cross member 19 extending in the right-to-left direction of a vehicle body. A member 18 for securing the spare tire 8 is fixed on the top of the rear plate 10a. |
