PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material excellent in preservability of a developed color image and free from needless color development, by using a color reaction agent constituted of a polyvalent metallic salt of a fatty organic acid and an aromatic carboxylic acid. CONSTITUTION:The color reaction agent capable of inducing a color reaction by making contact with a colorless or light-colored basic dye is constituted of a polyvalent metallic salt of a fatty organic acid and an aromatic carboxylic acid. Examples of the polyvalent metallic salt of a fatty organic acid include (1) an organophorphorus base polyvalent metallic salt having a P-O<->...M<n+> bond or a P-S<->...M<n+> bond, (2) a polyvalent metallic salt of a carboxylic acid, a thio-acid or a dithio-acid and (3) an organosulfur base polyvalent metallic salt having a S-O<->...M<n+> bond. When the polyvalent metallic salt of the fatty organic acid is used in the condition of being coated with a thermoplastic substance having a melting point of 60-250 deg.C, needless color development generated during preservation of the recording material in a hot and humid condition can be improved extremely efficiently, and a favorable brightness can be maintained even when the recording material is preserved under severe conditions. |
