PURPOSE:To shorten operation time required for division processing by starting division processing basing on a dividend and a divisor and detecting whether high speed operation is possible parallel with this division processing or not. CONSTITUTION:Simultaneously with starting of ordinary dividing operation by a normalizing counter 22, it is detected whether ''0'' is continuing to the upper digit bit of a normalized dividend data set to a normalized dividend register 24 parallel with the starting or not. When ''0'' is detected, intermediate quotient register 40 is cleared, and the result of division already proceeded till this time is cancelled, and dividing operation is performed by a normalized dividend and initial loop value set anew. When K' represents the number of division loops executed until resuming of division from starting of division operation and after resetting of the register 24 and a division loop counter 32, only operation of division loop number of (K-K') is reduced and time for operation can be shortened. |
