摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain a metallic thin film type magnetic recording medium having superior practical durability and suitable for high-density recording by coating microcrystals forming a thin film of a ferromagnetic metal with a mixture of the oxide of the ferromagnetic metal with the hydroxide of the metal. CONSTITUTION:A film of polyethylene terephthalate or the like is immersed in pure water for one day. A Co film is formed on the polymer film by diagonal vapor deposition, and it is exposed to a glow discharged atmosphere of oxygen to coat the surfaces of the Co microcrystals with a mixture of Co hydroxide with Co oxide. Thus, a metallic thin film type magnetic recording medium having superior practical durability and suitable for high density recording is obtd.
