PURPOSE:To provide a roller for continuous casting which is inexpensive, is highly resistant to corrosion and has a long life by forming a protective film consisting of an Al material on the inside surface of the roller forming a flow passage for cooling water. CONSTITUTION:A protective film 4 is formed atop the inside wall 3 forming a cooling water path 2 of a cylindrical roller 1 for continuous casting by subjecting the surface to a blasting, spraying of Al or an Al alloy, a sealing treatment, etc. The corrosion and erosion of the inside wall surface 3 of the roller are prevented and the clogging in the passage 2 and the decrease in the cooling effect are prevented, according to such roller for continuous casting. The generation of a heat crack and fracture on the surface of the roller 1 are thus prevented and the life of the roller is extended. |
