PURPOSE:To prevent ink ribbon from being wastefully consumed, by a method wherein a holding member for holding an ink ribbon at non-printing time is provided on a carriage, a stopping mechanism for holding the ink ribbon only at printing time is provided on the take-up side of the ribbon, and a flat spiral spring is provided in the direction for taking up the ribbon on the side of a supplying reel. CONSTITUTION:A holding lever 9 fitted onto the carriage 4 so that it can be rotated with a shaft 7 as a center is energized by a spring 8 so as to clamp the ink ribbon 6 between it and a ribbon guide 5b. An ink ribbon stopper 16 is rotatably fitted through a shaft 17, is provided with a tendency to rotate counteterclockwise by a spring 18, one end thereof is located at such a position that it can make contact with a guide roller 15, and the other end is connected to one end of a controlling lever 19. The other end of the lever 19 is rotatably connected to the tip of a rod of a solenoid 20. An ink ribbon cassette 11 is detachably fitted to a driving mechanism, and the flat spiral spring 25 is wound in when the ink ribbon 6 is reeled out. |
