PURPOSE:To reduce a rolling reaction and to restrain the slip between a work roll and a back-up roll by forming the work roll to a follower for the purpose of using it as an auxiliary driver at the time of biting a rolling material and providing a main driving roll as an intermediate roll. CONSTITUTION:3-Pairs of rolls i.e. work rolls 43, 44, intermediate rolls 46, 47 made movable in the directions of their roll axes, and back-up rolls 41, 42 are housed in a stand 2. The rolls 43, 44 are driven by spindles 10 for the purpose of auxiliary driving. The rolls 46, 47 are driven by main motors 17, 18 connected to them through universal couplings 8 and sliding couplings 9. The diameters of the rolls 46, 47 are made larger than those of the rolls 43, 44. |
