Papermaking machine head box slice assembly, comprises main body which defines flow passage with mating lip, and which carries slice with rear section fixed to the main body and connected to tip section by flexible neck. The tip section is movable, because of the flexible neck, to vary the slice opening between the slice lip and the opposed mating lip, the slice lip tip being connected to at least one adjusting rod. The slice lip tip section, rear section and the flexible neck form a smoth continuous surface converging towards the mating lip with streamline contour.
