PURPOSE:To obtain a thermodevelopable color diffusion transfer type photosensitive material contg. a positive type dye donor high in dye releasing speed by combining a specified compd. releasing a diffusive dye or its precursor as a redox reaction with a photosensitive layer formed on a support. CONSTITUTION:An immobile LDA compd. releasing a diffusive dye or its precursor as a result of redox reaction is incorporated in a photosensitive layer formed on a support, and it is represented by formula I in which n, x, y, z are each 1 or 2; m is an integer of >=1; D is a group contg. an electron donor or its precursor; A is an org. group for combining Nup with -E-Q-Col or D; Nup is a precursor of a nucleophilic group; E is an electron attractive center; Q is a divalent group; Col is a group contg. a dye or its precursor; Bal is a ballasting group; L is a bonding group; and M is an optional substitute. Such a DLA group may be contained in a silver halide emulsion layer, or its adjacent layer. Silverdeveloped parts do not release the -Q-Col group or its precursor but the silver nondeveloped parts release it by exposing the photosensitive material and developing it with an alkaline processing soln., and it is transferred, e.g., to an image receiving layer to give a positive type color image. The LDA compd. is stable against oxidation during storage, good in transferability and dye release efficiency, and it can form a high quality copied image in a short time.
