PURPOSE:To enhance color forming and thermal transfer efficiency, by a method wherein a heat-accumulating layer is provided at a gap between electrodes in a electrode pattern layer, a step between the electrode pattern layer and the heat- accumulating layer is reduced, and the surface of an abrasion-resistant layer brought into contact with a thermal recording medium is smoothened. CONSTITUTION:An under-glass layer 18 is provided by screen printing on a substrate 11 formed of alumina or the like, and an electrode pattern 13 consisting of gold or the like is provided thereon in a desired pattern by screen printing or the like. Then, a glass paste is applied by screen printing onto a peripheral part including the part at which heating elements are to be printed, followed by baking, and a photoresist 21 is applied in a thickness of 2-8mum by a roll coater or the like. Thereafter, upper parts corresponding to the electrode pattern 13 with the same pitch as that of the electrode pattern 13 are exposed to light through a photomask, followed by development, then the paste layer 20 is removed by etching, and after dissolving the photoresist 21 and cooling, a heating resistor 15 and an over-glass layer are provided by printing.
