PURPOSE:To ensure a satisfactory application of a price look-up PLU function by showing the number of articles to which the PLU information can be set from the data on the memory region length, etc. which are needed to set the PLU information in relation to the final memory address or an article. CONSTITUTION:A command is given to a CPU2 from a keyboard 1, and a memory means 3 is connected to the CPU2. A PLU file address memory area 32 of the means 3 includes an area 323 which stores the final address of the PLU file, an area 324 which stores the record length of a PLU. The number of articles to which the PLU information is set is calculated from the data on the area 32, and the result of this calculation is stored to a WORK1 of the means 3. Furthermore the number of articles which can be added in a PLU file 31 is calculated and stored in a WORK2. The obtained number of articles to which the PLU information is set is displayed to a display means 4 together with the number of articles to which the PLU information can be set.
