PURPOSE:To simultaneously perform dust collection, desulfurization, degassing and deodorizing in high efficiency, by using an electrostatic dust collecting apparatus wherein a plurality of discharge electrodes each formed by providing needle-like projections to the plural places of a plurality of intertwisted composite metal wires is arranged in a rotatable manner. CONSTITUTION:A discharge electrode 3 is formed by providing needle-like projections 2 to plural places of two intertwisted composite metal wires 1 and quietly rotated in a state provided to a ceramic insulator while a dust collecting electrode 4 is provided to the opposed position of the discharge electrode 3. When a DC current is flowed to the discharge electrode 3 to apply high negative potential, all of particles ionized at high density are attracted to the dust collecting electrode 4 by corona discharge 2' efficiently generated from the needle-like projections 2 opposed to the dust collecting electrode of the rotary discharge electrode and flowed into a precipitation tank while continuously removed by the flowing-down water 5 flowed on the dust collecting electrode 4.
