The harvester of weeded or defoliated plants comprises a carrier vehicle (2) which can be controlled and a collector carried by this vehicle. The collector is fitted with a cutter and a clearance mechanism and has a feeler situated in front of the clearance mechanism. The carrier vehicle (2) has two swivelling axles (3,4) and the collector (1) of defoliated plants has a second feeler (20) situated, for an observer looking in the direction of motion, at a known distance in front of or behind the first feeler (16). This second feeler controls the swivelling axle (3) which is not influenced by the first feeler.
