SUPPORTER FOR RACK AND PINION

PURPOSE:To improve mechanical efficiency and rigidity, by using a yoke and a roller separately urged by springs, to support a rack bar. CONSTITUTION:A supporter comprises a yoke 10 slidably inserted in a cylindrical part 5, and a roller 11 provided in the yoke. The yoke 10 is urged by the appropriate force of a spring 13 to push a rack bar 2 toward a pinion. The roller 11 is rotatably supported by a pin 20 on a support member 21 slidably inserted in the internal hole 10a of the yoke 10. The roller 11 is urged on the peripheral surface by the appropriate force of a spring 22 so that the roller is in contact with the notched surface 2a of the rack bar 2. The rack bar is supported by the yoke 10 and the roller 11 when the rack bar is moved in the axial direction and rotated by the rotation of the pinion 3.
