PURPOSE:To provide a composition for oral cavity application, containing a specific phosphorus-containing compound such as N,N-bisphosphonoalkyl compound, etc. in combination with a water-soluble magnesium salt, having syntergistically improved effect of the above compounds to prevent the formation of tartar, and useful for the prevention and remedy of periodontosis. CONSTITUTION:A composition or oral cavity application is incorporated with (A) one or more compounds selected from (i) the compound of formula I (R1- R3 are lower alkylene) and its salt, (ii) the compound of formula II and its salt, (iii) an O-phosphoamino acid compound obtained by converting the hydroxyl group of an OH-containing amino acid to phosphoric acid ester group, and its salt, (iv) 2,3-diphosphoglyceric acid and its salt, and (v) the reaction product obtained by reacting phytic acid with glycidyl methacrylate in an aqueous solution of an alkali metal, and its salt, in combination with (B) a water-soluble magnesium salt. The crystal growth of the hydroxyapatite from amorphous calcium phosphate can be suppressed effectively, and consequently, the formation of tartar can be prevented. |
