This method consists in measuring the temperature or the conductivity of the fluid, at successive points, which are sufficiently close together all along the pipelines of this network, an abnormal difference in temperature or in conductivity between two successive points on this pipeline signifying that an accidental or fraudulant introduction or removal of fluid is occurring between these two points. The equipment used includes a thermometric or conductivity probe capable of running through the said pipelines recording the temperature or the conductivity of the fluid at successive suitably distributed points, for example between two man holes.
