PURPOSE:To utilize a wind power to its maximum, by permitting air to flow on back sides of a sub hard sail and a soft sail and thereby to prevent separation of an air layer on the back sides. CONSTITUTION:A clearance 7 is defined between a rear end portion of a main hard sail 1 and a front end portion of a sub hard sail 8, so as to create air flow B on back sides of the sub hard sail 8 and a soft sail 9. A part of air flow is leaked from the clearance 7 to flow on the back sides of the sub hard sail 8 and the soft sail 9. In other words, a hard sail is divided into the main hard sail 1 and the sub hard sail 8, and the vertically extending clearance 7 is defined between both the hard sails 1 and 8, so as to permit a part of air to flow on the back sides of the sub hard sail 8 and the soft sail 9. With this arrangement, turbulence of air flow on the back side of the composite sail may be prevented, and a wind power may be effectively converted to a propelling power.
