The invention relates to a device for connecting formwork elements, built up one on top of the other, of concrete formworks, having vertically extending longitudinal girders carrying a formwork skin, the device connecting the ends of two girders, arranged one behind the other in the girder longitudinal direction, of built-up formwork elements. The invention consists in providing, at least on the girders (13 to 16) arranged at the two lateral edges of the formwork element (1, 2), only one clamping member (28), acting in the girder longitudinal direction, per connecting device and arranging said clamping member sidewards of the longitudinal mid-plane, running through top boom (5) and bottom boom (6), of the girders, on the side of the girder remote from the edge of the formwork element, a fitting (20, 21), receiving in each case one end of the clamping member (28), being fixed sidewards of the web (8) arranged at the end of the girder, on the other side of which a part (30, 34), which does not project beyond the outlines of the top boom (5) and bottom boom (6), is optionally arranged. <IMAGE>
