In the case of a vibration damper, it is intended to create a temperature-controlled valve device for the low piston-speed range, underneath the damping piston at the end of the piston rod, which valve device achieves large control movements and is intended especially for use in the case of piston rods consisting of solid material. In order to achieve this object, a valve device inside a separate component, or a piston nut which contains the valve device directly, is arranged underneath the damping piston at the end of the piston rod.
