Use of a programmable read-only memory chip, integrated in an identity card, for storing information for a microprocessor-controlled reader

For the machine reading of identity cards, it is proposed to store the information to be read in a read-only memory chip (PROM, EPROM) which is integrated in an identity card. Connected to the bus system of a microprocessor, the data can be directly read out of the memory chip. Sensors for scanning any markings which contain the required data in coded form are not needed since the data are already stored as retrievable bytes in the memory chip.
