In a closer for door closers or the like, there are provided a hydraulic damping device for the closing movement and a spring connected fixedly against rotation at the end to commercial parts of the closer which have a sleeve and a bar, the bar and sleeve extending coaxially at a radial distance from one another and both being rotatable relative to one another. They surround an essentially annular hydraulic working space, through which a central torsion bar passes, in order to close off the hydraulic working space hermetically, so that no moved parts are guided through outwards, the elastic torsion bar 3 made of plastic or rubber extends from an end closure 2, in which is provided a blind hole 5, into which an axle-like member 7 extending from the first commercial part 6 engages and is non-positively connected at its other end 19 to the free end 4 of the torsion bar 3. <IMAGE>
