摘要 PURPOSE:To improve combustion of fuel at the time when the engine temperature is low, by increasing the injection quantity of fuel automatically when the engine temperature is low by keeping a member made of a shape memory alloy in engagement with a rack pin of a fuel injection pump. CONSTITUTION:A fuel increasing or decreasing rack pin 2 is fitted in a freely slidable manner into the side wall 1a of a fuel injection pump 1, and a coil spring 18 made of a shape memory alloy is put into a cap 8 for covering the rack pin 2 in the manner that it is engaged with the rack pin 2. When the engine temperature is low, the coil spring 18 is contracted, so that the rack pin 2 is moved to the right in the drawing and the injection quantity of fuel is increased. When the engine temperature is high, on the other hand, the coil spring 18 is expanded and pushes the rack pin 2 to the left, i.e., in the direction A shown in the drawing, so that the injection quantity of fuel is decreased. With such an arrangement, it is enabled to increase the injection quantity of fuel automatically when the engine temperature is low.
