<p>A fibre-reinforced shaft assembly includes a tubular fibre- reinforced shaft portion 12 and a metal end fitting 14 having at least one external surface part 16a located generally perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the shaft portion. Fibre filaments are wound helically along the shaft portion and are continued around said external surface part 16a of the end fitting and back along the shaft portion.
