摘要 PURPOSE:To prevent the insulation breakdown and deterioration of a dielectric by eliminating the disappearance of silent discharge in the neighborhood of a trigger electrode by a method wherein said electrode is made close to an electrode covered with dielectric at the time of no laser oscillation, and made away from said electrode at the time of laser oscillation. CONSTITUTION:The silent discharge 5 is generated by impressing the AC voltage from an AC power source 4 between electrodes 3A and 3B covered with dielectrics 14A and 14B, and then a laser light is generated by exciting laser gas. An electromagnetic solenoid 17 is arranged in this laser device, and the trigger electrode 12 is installed to an insulator 16 joined to this solenoid 17. This solenoid 17 enables to make said electrode 12 close to or away from a pair of the electrodes 3A and 3B. Said electrode 12 is made close to the electrodes 3A and 3B at the time of no laser oscillation, and made away from them at the time of laser oscillation. Then, the laser light is generated by the silent discharge 5 already formed, thus preventing the insulation breakdown and deterioration of the dielectrics 14A and 14B.
