<p>TOROIDAL FLOW SEPARATOR AND METHOD SENSITIVE TO THE SURFACE AREA AND DENSITY OF FLOW SUSPENDED PARTICLES A method and apparatus for separating particulate or friable material according to the surface area and density of constituents of the material is disclosed. A spiralling liquid flow is established in a chamber which contains the material, the chamber having a centrally disposed cirular top opening which permits an overflow. The diameter of the top opening and the rate of flow are selected such that a portion of the material is carried away from the chamber with the overflow, while a remaining portion of the material stays within the chamber.</p> |
