<p>APPARATUS FOR ASSEMBLING ELECTRICAL CABLES TO ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS This invention is directed to 2 tool for assembling electrical cables to an electrical connector. In the electrical industry, a continuing problem is to provide tools for simply connecting electrical cables to electrical connectors and for handling the cables in a simple and efficient manner. This is particularly true for multi-conductor cables. Certain connectors are provided with a cable clamp for strain relief, which clamps to the outer covering of the cable. The present invention provides an apparatus which includes a pair of jaw members which move cojointly to engage and crimp the cable clamp. A lever is mounted for pivotal movement in a direction generally perpendicular to the direction of movement of the jaw members. A motion transmitting mechanism including a cam member and cam follower move the jaw members in response to pivotal movement of the lever.</p> |
