PURPOSE:To attain two-way communication by one kind of optical transmitter/ receiver without the provision of a master/slave set by switching an optical transmitter/receiver from the reception mode into the transmission mode when a non-signal state is consecutive for a prescribed time or over during the reception mode. CONSTITUTION:An optical transmitter/receiver 1 consists of an optical transmitter/receiver 3 executing the transmission/reception of a data to an optical fiber 2 and a control circuit section 4 controlling the transmission/ reception operation of the optical transmitter/receiver 3. One frame is of 11-bit constitution in the information sent in the said communication system. The start bit has a low level and the stop bit has a high level respectively. When an output signal RS of the optical transmitter/receiver 3 is consecutively at high level over 11-bit, it is discriminated that the mode of the opposite station is switched from the transmission mode into the reception mode to switch the mode of the own station from the reception mode into the transmission mode. |
