The measurement unit holder is fitted in a frame on which the instrument is mounted, the unit (14) being withdrawable. The holder contains components for probing the distance between the unit and the instrument. The holder components comprise a casing which fits into the frame, and a spring-support bar movable in the casing. The bar is rigidly connected to the measurement unit, and a spring component is inserted between a projection on the bar and the casing. The measurement unit comprises a tape measure which can be rolled up into a casing. The measurement unit holder contains a cradle for accommodation and retention of the casing.
