NOVEL PYRROLINE COMPOUND

NEW MATERIAL:3-(R)-4-(R)-Dihydroxy-5-(R)-hydroxymethyl-1-pyrroline expressed by formula I and a salt thereof. USE:A medicine, immunological regulator or hypoglycemic agent. PREPARATION:A strain, belonging to the genus Nectria and capable of producing the purroline compound expressed by formula I, e.g. Nactria lucida F-4490 strain, is fermented in a nutrient culture medium to give the aimed compound expressed by formula I or a compound expressed by formula VII (R<1>-R<3> and R<5> are different protecting groups of OH group or R<1> and R<2> together form a protecting group of the adjacent OH group) is subjected to introduction reaction of amino group to form a compound expressed by formula VI, and a protecting group R4 of the amino group is introduced thereinto. The resultant compound is then subjected to elimination reaction of the protecting group of the OH group to afford a compound expressed by formula IV. Oxidative cleavage of the glycol part thereof is then carried out to afford a compound expressed by formula III, which is further subjected to the elimination reaction of the protecting group of the OH group to give a compound expressed by formula II, which is further subjected to elimination reaction of the protecting groups of the amino group and formyl group to give the aimed compound expressed by formula I.
