<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound having a substituent group and useful as a plant growth promoting agent, etc., stereoselectively and economically in an industrial scale, by reacting a specific brassinosteroid having protected hydroxyl group and epoxy group with an organo-copper compound, and removing the OH- protecting group from the product. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound of formula IV can be prepared by reacting a brassinosteroid of formula I (A is OH-protecting group; R is group of formula II) having protected epoxy alcohol group with an organo-copper compound of formula X2CuCNLi2(X is lower alkyl), and removing the OH-protecting group A from the resultant compount of formula III. The starting compound of formula I is obtained by reacting the aldehyde of formula V with 2-silyl-1-iodopropene, etc. in the presence of butyl lithium, and epoxidizing the reaction product with a peroxide in the presence of vanadium acetylacetonate.</p> |
